Marisa brings warmth and meditative awareness to the process of trauma therapy to facilitate impactful healing.

Marisa views meditation not as a practice, but as a way of being.

Marisa graduated cum laude from Bates College with a degree in Psychology. She holds a dual Master of Clinical Social Work and Public Health degree from The University of Pennsylvania, and is a Certified EMDR Therapist serving the states of Massachusetts and Maine.

Marisa has served as a clinical case manager for the Philadelphia Prison System, a therapist trainee in community mental health, and worked as an intensive family therapist during Covid-19. Marisa completed a year-long Post Graduate Fellowship at The Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute, founded by leading trauma expert and author Ricky Greenwald, PsyD. There, she received in-depth training in EMDR, Progressive Counting, and the Flash Technique.

During her time at The Trauma Institute, Marisa provided therapy intensives working with one client for five consecutive days with the specific aim to reprocess traumatic memories. Therapy intensives are her passion and she grounds this process in moment to moment resonance with her clients.

In 2019, while undertaking a silent meditation retreat, Marisa had an Awakening, experiencing the unified nature of mind and reality. Her perception of herself, and reality as she knew it, changed. The Awakening took root with the support from her teacher, Tina Rasmussen, PhD. It deepened as she continued, with resolve, to integrate this shift in consciousness into daily life. Marisa has completed a combined six months of silent meditation training.

Marisa combines her passion for meditation with trauma therapy modalities. She has trained extensively with meditation teacher Tina Rasmussen, PhD, co-author of Practicing the Jhanas, and the founder of Luminous Mind Sangha. Marisa now serves as a Professional Affiliate for Luminous Mind Sangha.

I invite my clients to offer a gentle curiosity to all parts of themselves, so that together we may attune to what the body, heart, and spirit are most needing to restore wholeness.
